This 54mm Camel figure is from Marx original PL-344 "Wild Animals" mold. This mold set was based on the Marx Circus animals from 1951-1952. 1950s. It is molded in original brown, rubber-like vinyl. Figures from the Circus Plysets will be made of rubber-like vinyl. By the time the "Jungle" playsets were introduced in 1956-1957 Marx had switched to polyethylene soft plastic figures. In 1957 Marx figured out that there aren't Camels or Polar Bears in the jungle and those figures were eliminated from the mold and replaced by four new poses; a running elephant, a gorilla, a lion cub, and an adult male lion.
This Camel figure is therefore one of the hardest playset figures to stumble across. It is molded in brown soft plastic so it was made in 1956-1957 until it was removed from production.
